Commercial Acting Workshop

Session One

Introduction to analysis of character, first reading of

new script, assignment of partners, partners work together, repetition

exercise to enhance listening and reacting skills.

Session Two

Critique, direct and rehearse scenes. Tape scenes from

three different angles: master (two shot) and close up for each actor.

Critique playback and discuss.

Session Three

Advanced, intensive work on spokesperson copy,

working with other actors on camera with complex dialogue. Analyze

commercial copy, watch examples of commercials, analysis and

discussion. Assign commercial copy for next class.

Session Four

Rehearse commercials, direct actors, record and

playback with discussion of results on camera. Hand out scenes, assign

partners, and rehearse partners to prepare for casting director session.

Session Five

Casting Director introduction, opening remarks, Q & A,

then students perform spokesperson copy and memorized scenes.

Casting Director critiques playback and gives out his scenes and or

commercials he would for which he’d like to see them audition.

Playback/critique. Professional advice is given with more Q & A for the

Casting Director. Closing remarks.
